ceramics week 2

well this week, monday we started to paint our thrown bowls, i done a few criss-cross lines of purple and yellow on mine, influnced by the sand.on tuesday we finished our raku pieces, we first done one layer of slip then waited for it to dry and then done a second layer of slip , we then put the pots into the kiln and fired them ....

well rag week is all over, just about recovered and back into my last elective, ceramics.. today we got started into ceramics. we started off doing mark making with indian inks and different tools. we done many patterns and marks with this and then we done a few negative photo copys and also started to cut up some photo copies of these and made different shapes... im really looking forward to start making the pots and playing around with that :) ..

weekend maddness.

during the weekend we had to replicate a painting by artist lucian freud.. i picked a painting where the subject matter consisted of mountainds in the background and then a crate of apples in the fore ground. i painted this picture in acrylics.. putting down layer by layer.

end of week from painting

During the end of my first week of paintig we all started to paint from an installation. we gathered many  materials all of different  textures and put them all together. I then set up my easal and started off painting pictures of this with plastic cards(credit cards) and also looked at a section of the installation and painted this with different shaped palette knives, painting in three different tones... dark, medium, light.. tones of black and white!
